In my own practice, I see plenty of SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and SIFO (small intestine fungal overgrowth). Following up on my last video on testing for SIBO and SIFO, I want to dive deeper now into treating the root causes of those conditions.
The prevailing method of treating SIBO and SIFO has changed over the years, and searching Google for treatment options might lead you down an older path. The most common treatment used to be antibiotics and a low FODMAP diet. But this doesn’t address the most common root causes of SIBO and SIFO.
The two most common root causes I see are (1) H. phylori infection and (2) poor intestinal motility (specifically impairment of the migrating motor complex, aka MMC).
To address these root causes, I put patients on a gut-healing protocol. And now I’ve made the same protocol available for you! If I have a high suspicion of SIBO or SIFO, I will put patients on the protocol even before testing. It addresses so many root causes of gut issues that patients frequently feel much better even if SIBO or SIFO wasn’t the issue.
What’s in the protocol?
- Spore-based probiotic to help repopulate the gut with good bacteria
- Prebiotic to feed the good bacteria
- MegaMucosa to heal the mucus membrane on the inner lining of the intestines
- MegaIgG to provide immune globulins that soak up bad pathogens in the gut
- Pro-motility agent to help the MCC keep moving
- Inulin and fish oils for general health
Check out the protocol here and you can decide whether you want to try this even before testing for SIBO or SIFO.

Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing a great job.
