Using Supplements to Complement Feeding Therapy

Discussions around autism treatments seem to be divided into two groups: traditional interventions like speech, OT, and PT and integrative interventions involving supplements. 

My videos are typically focused on using supplements and other holistic approaches to improve diet, sleep, and gut health. But there is value, and we have benefited from traditional therapies as well. 

I want to show you how you can boost the effectiveness of traditional therapies with the addition of supplements and diet changes. Here I’ll discuss how two supplements, when paired with feeding therapy, can speed up your child’s progress.

When my autistic child Sophie was young, she was obsessed with people’s hair. She was compelled to touch, feel, and comment on the hair of every woman she saw. 

The obsession seemed harmless enough, in fact, the people she approached seemed to genuinely enjoy Sophie’s attention and compliments. But there were times when Sophie’s hair touching compulsion led her into dangerous territory.

Exercises to Stimulate the Vagus Nerve and Reduce Stress for Your Autistic Child

In my video The Vagus Nerve’s Role in Autism we learned all about what the vagus nerve is and how stimulating it can calm our autistic children.

Completing vagus nerve exercises two times a day for just five minutes can yield positive results in about two weeks. However, the fun and bonding that occurs while you’re completing these exercises will provide you with an immediate short-term mood boost.
